Thoughts on Convention 2003
Mu
Phi Epsilon will be 100 years old on November 13, 2003. What a
celebration there was in Cincinnati in August! I wish each one of you
could have been there. The music was superb and performed at
every business meeting, luncheon, dinner, many concerts and two lobby
sings. What else would one expect at a Mu Phi convention?
Friends
that I made I will cherish in memory and some of them I hope to see
again soon. Martha Whitmore, president of Denton Alumni and Dana Seals,
Delta Pi at Tarleton were my tablemates at the business meetings. We
enjoyed getting to know each other.
Harmony
was evident in all that we did. Everything went smoothly, thanks to
efficient planning. When help was needed, the response was swift. Of
course, there was discussion on some issues, but all were resolved
peacefully. There was a great feeling of anticipation, excitement and
fellowship throughout the whole convention. It was an experience I shall
never forget.
Finally
to witness Wynona, confident, efficient and yet so warm and personable
in her role as International President was such a pleasure. She sang
beautifully the night of the banquet. What a talented lady.
Hopefully she will be with us often in the future.

Cynthia's
Notes
Dear Mu Phis,
Dallas
Alumni Chapter is beginning its 73rd year as our fraternity begins its
second century. What a history we have, but what great days are
ahead for us. I think you will find the programs for the coming
year to be an interesting mix of instruments, composers, themes and even
an illustrated talk.
The
telephone committee has been reinstated, so you will be receiving a call
to remind you of time and place of meetings. Hopefully this will
boost attendance. I know that everyone is busy, but when we miss
meetings we miss so much more, the inspiration from the music and the
fellowship of old friends and the fun of making new ones. I
promise that business meetings will be as short as possible.
The
first meeting will be Saturday, September 13 at 2:PM at the home of
Martha Peak. Mu Chi and Epsilon Epsilon members will provide the
program. There will be fewer Mu Chi members participating this
year as four of them have gone to study in Paris for the semester.
Lucky kids.
We
have a new member, Cherie Bell, a special election initiate. She
came to our May meeting and now will be involved with the library
series. If any of you know a candidate for special election or an
unaffiliated Mu Phi, let us know and we will pursue it.
Let's
look ahead to a great year.
Cynthia Wadley

News
June
Tighe spent over a month in Medical City Hospital this summer, almost
the entire time in intensive care.
June suffers from heart problems, but she is progressing nicely,
according to her daughter-in-law. She will have tests to determine
what can be done to improve her health.
Steve
and Judy Dardaganian and Charles and Pat Suitt went with the Dallas
Symphony Chorus on their European tour in July. Steve, Judy and
Charles were part of the 115-voice chorus. Pat went along to enjoy
it all. Fantastic reviews.
Thanks to Cynthia
Wadley, who has taken on the job of President, representing our chapter
at the convention. She has helped Vice=Presidents Sadie Rowe and June
Tighe with programs for the year, since June has been sick. Getting
everything together and reporting on convention made for a busy August!
She is meeting with Sadie to finalize the fall schedule.
